The company is now expanding that lineup just before IFA 2026 with two new devices: the WP600 and the WP70 Ultra. The first is aimed at people who want to play demanding games on a phone that will not flinch when dropped, while the second is described by the brand as the slimmest rugged phone to ever pack a 16,000mAh battery. Neither is a conventional slim phone by modern standards, but both appear to offer something unusual in their respective corners of the market.
Rugged phones have traditionally been built for outdoor workers, explorers, and anyone who regularly finds themselves in damp, dusty, or hazardous environments. Over the past few years, however, manufacturers have tried to make them more appealing to everyday consumers. That means adding features such as thermal imaging, night vision cameras, 5G, and even desktop-style interfaces. Oukitel, meanwhile, has stayed focused on its core strengths: resilient construction and the kind of battery endurance that standard flagships rarely offer.
Oukitel WP600: A rugged phone with gaming flair
The WP600 is positioned by Oukitel as a rugged smartphone for gamers. It is a striking product because it combines a chunky protective shell with the visual language of a gaming phone. The yellow and black color scheme, metallic accents, and customizable RGB lights give it a personality that is a long way from the usual slate gray or black of industrial handhelds. Some onlookers will probably compare it to a Transformer, especially from the rear, because the design is busy and mechanical rather than minimal.
Build quality and certifications
As with most devices in this category, the WP600 is not just about looks. It comes with IP68 and IP69K ratings, which means it is protected against dust, water immersion, and high-pressure water jets. It also meets the MIL-STD-810H standard for resistance to drops, vibration, humidity, and temperature extremes. Those credentials give users confidence if they decide to take the phone on a construction site, a hiking trail, or anywhere else where accidents are likely.
Gaming-grade cooling and performance
Under the hood, the WP600 uses MediaTek's Dimensity 8300 chipset. That is not a flagship processor, but it is more than capable of handling most modern titles at smooth frame rates. The WP600 has a 6.8-inch 120Hz FHD+ display, though Oukitel has not stated whether it is an LCD or OLED panel. The refresh rate should make scrolling and supported games feel fluid. Battery capacity is set at 10,000mAh, which is already far above most conventional smartphones, and charging speed is rated at 45W. That means recharging such a large battery will take longer than a smaller cell, but 45W is still reasonably quick for a rugged smartphone in this category.
On the rear, there is a 108MP primary camera. Oukitel also includes a privacy switch that physically cuts power to the camera, microphone, and GPS modules. That may appeal to security-conscious users who like having a hardware-level guarantee that no one can listen in or track them. eSIM support is also included, making the handset more flexible when traveling or managing multiple numbers.
WP70 Ultra: 16,000mAh in a slimmer rugged shell
Oukitel's second announcement is the WP70 Ultra, a phone that takes the company's obsession with battery size to another level. It has a 16,000mAh cell, which should in theory deliver several days of normal use or provide enough power to charge other devices. The phone is not as thin as a mainstream handset meant for that capacity, but Oukitel calls it the slimmest 16,000mAh rugged phone to date. It measures 16.4mm thick. While that still looks chunky next to conventional smartphones, it is a remarkable feat for something carrying so much stored energy.
