Amaravati: AP Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav presented the 2025-26 annual budget in the Legislative Assembly. The budget, amounting to Rs. 3.22 lakh crore, was brought before the house. This is the first time after the coalition government came to power that a full-fledged budget has been presented. After presenting the budget, Payyavula stated that the state’s debt capacity has reached zero, and Andhra Pradesh remains the only state with no borrowing power. However, he mentioned that the budget was prepared with the inspiration of Chief Minister Chandrababu.

He mentioned that during 2014-19, the state achieved double-digit growth. In facing challenges, Chandrababu is his own counterpart, he said. He further stated that after the state bifurcation, Andhra Pradesh lost its capital and made Amaravati its people's capital. He assured that large-scale development works would be undertaken in Amaravati in line with the aspirations of the people. He emphasized that Amaravati is as important to Andhra Pradesh as Mumbai is to Maharashtra and Hyderabad is to Telangana. Payyavula revealed that with the cooperation of Prime Minister Modi, Amaravati would be developed to match the cities of Mumbai and Hyderabad.
